Thanksgiving Letter from the DeanThursday, October 8, 2024 8 October 2024 Dear Friends in Christ, As we gather this Thanksgiving, it’s easy to focus on the usual things—good food, family, friends. And those are wonderful blessings, especially stuffing and gravy! But as followers of Jesus, Thanksgiving calls us to go deeper, beyond the comforts of that day, and reflect on how we are living out our calling to be stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us. To be co-creators of the peaceable realm. […] For more infomation visit: http://thecathedral.ca/blog/thanksgiving-letter-from-the-dean

The Gift of the Archbishop of York's VisitSubmitted by Hadani Ditmars Like many of us, last weekend I had the honour and pleasure to meet with and listen to the Archbishop of York. On the last leg of a cross-Canada tour, Stephen Cottrell offered a public lecture at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday morning. I vaguely remembered reading a notice about a 9:30 am coffee and muffin meeting for attendees preceding the lecture, but I thought I would just head straight for the main event. As it turned out, the archbishop, accompanied by his lovely wife Rebecca Cottrell and his chief of staff Mark Steadman, also attended the coffee klatch. There in the cathedral where my great grandparents Ruth and Arthur Jones, who met on the boat from Liverpool, were married in 1906, I learned that Rebecca was a ceramics artist and that she knew of my cousin Jonathan Chiswell Jones – a potter in Sussex - from that same Liverpool clan. It was all very familial. […] For more infomation visit: http://thecathedral.ca/news/the-gift-of-the-archbishop-of-yorks-visit

SEND US YOUR PRAYER REQUEST
The Cathedral's Healing Prayer ministry is centered on healing through prayer. This ministry acknowledges that healing is God's work, and that those who offer this ministry are instruments of the divine presence and care for people. Prayers for healing are offered with a posture of trust, openness, and faith that God will continue the healing ministry of Christ through the Church. Our ministry with and amongst those who are sick is about God's unfolding healing process, rather than a cure. Those seeking prayer may email the Cathedral PrayerLink at prayerlink@thecathedral.ca to have their name added to the list. |
