Vincent Carey, the Cathedral’s long-time parish administrator and Dean’s assistant for administration officially retires from his position at the end of July (last working day the 8th) . During his time at the Cathedral as a parishioner and a staff member he has done much more than oversee the day to day administration of the parish.
Vincent has also been an active member of the Server’s Guild, a sacristan and a MC. Most Fridays he could be found setting up the chancel for Sunday worship, and working quietly behind the scenes to ensure the smooth running of various worship services.
Effective this October, Dean Chris will appoint Vincent as the Head Sacristan of Christ Church Cathedral. This role will revolve around Vincent’s passion for our feasts and liturgies as well as the knowledge and expertise he brings to diocesan liturgies such as ordination and confirmation. As Head Sacristan Vincent will serve as a member of the Seasonal Liturgical Planning Committee, coordinate Diocesan liturgies and oversee preparations for special feasts such as Holy Week, Christmas and Easter. He will also liaison with special services and will work closely as a connector between the liturgical ministries of Altar Guild, Servers Guild, Lay Administrators and Deacons.
Vincent will also continue his ministry as a server and continue to provide the behind the scenes assistance that Cathedral clergy have come to rely on and has contributed to the excellence of Cathedral liturgies.
