Indigenous elder and designer Rikki Kooy will share story, cultural origins, and an overview of the work of the “Feather Dance” Reconciliation Project. “Feather Dance” is an Indigenous-led, Indigenous, settler, and refugee collaboration in textile arts, with a focus on storytelling, wisdom sharing, relationship building, and community handwork. (The project is an ongoing work of St. Hildegard’s Sanctuary.)
In June 2022, Rikki introduced the creation of a Reconciliation Prayer Pole for the Cathedral. This event will continue the ongoing work toward the unveiling of the pole during Holy Week. Materials will be provided for engaging in hands-on work to add to the project through the creation of reconciliation prayer flags as we continue ongoing work toward reconciliation.
All are welcome! This is a free event, but we ask you to register via Eventbrite to ensure we have sufficient supplies for all.
