Ash Wednesday is fast approaching, but it doesn't look like restrictions on in-person worship are likely to be eased any time soon. So the Cathedral is preparing for a Contact-Free Ash Wednesday.
There will be a live-streamed service on Ash Wednesday, and an Ash Wednesday "kit" will be mailed to parishioners in advance to help mark the start of Lent.
What will be in this Ash Wednesday kit? A letter from the Dean, a booklet with reflections and meditations to use throughout lent...and a small bag of ashes along with a card that explains how to impose ashes on the members of your household.
Clergy gathered at the Cathedral January 27 to burn old palms and package the ashes into baggies for each household registered with the Cathedral. The kits will arrive in your mailbox in the first two weeks of February.
