The Cathedral's Summer Festival of Sacred Music comes to a close September 4.
Thanks to the hard work of the Director of Music, Rupert Lang the Cathedral was able to once again provide a summer of services featuring stunning sacred music presented by the Cathedral choir and guest soloists.
Here is the full list of themes that delighted our souls this summer:
June 26 - Honouring St Jean Baptiste
Featuring La Messe Québécoise, complete with fiddle, bass and spoons!
July 3 - Crossing of Borders - Sacred Music of Canada & the US
July 10 - Destroying Borders! A Call for Peace
featuring music dedicated to Ukraine, whose Declaration of State Sovereignty took place July 16, 1990
July 17 - Dedicated to Desmond
A tribute to “Tutu” with guest soloist Janelle Reid
July 24 - For the Beauty of the Earth - Dedicated to our Mother Earth - Planet A (there’s no planet B)
July 31 - Born This Way - Honouring Pride Weekend with Willy Miles-Grenzberg, soloist
August 7 - Pure Polyphony - Featuring the music of Palestrina
August 14 - Ave Maria, Gratia Plena - Honouring the Feast of St. Mary, the Virgin
with soloist Chelsea Numanga
August 21 - Precious Lord, Take My Hand - with Magnificent Marcus Mosely, soloist
August 28 - Song of Songs - vocal music of the Franco-Flemish composer, Johannes de Lymburgia
September 4 - Bach and Beyond - featuring music by Bach, Handel and Marricone,
with soloist Debi Wong and Erin Marks, oboe
