Donations for Thanksgiving Fruit and VegetablesSubmitted by Sarah Nation Each Thanksgiving, our Altar Guild creates a beautiful display of bounty at the Altar through the use of flowers, fruit and vegetables. As we have in the past few years, there will be more of an emphasis on buying fruit and vegetables, which can then be used by the Maunday Cafe in the following weeks to provide nourishing hot soups and stews for our Maundy guests. On Sunday, September 29 and October 6 we will be collecting donations to decorate the Cathedral for our Thanksgiving Sunday services on October 13th. There will be someone to accept your donations in the Narthex after the 8:00am service and downstairs in the hall during coffee hour after the 10:30am service. If you participate in the services online or attend St. Brigids and Compline in person, you may phone Vanessa Ho during the week and make a donation using your credit card or by sending in a cheque. Thank you for your continued support as we beautify our Cathedral space and help feed our neighbours. (Photo by Ben Dobyns) |

Latin American Liberation, Love, and Friendship DaySubmitted by Hadani Ditmars Last Sunday’s Latin American Liberation, Love, and Friendship Day was a great success. Following on the heels of a lovely service that featured a Spanish call and response for the intercessory prayer composed by Liz Stockwell (who spent many years in Panama) and music by Latin American composers thoughtfully chosen by Rupert Lang, a Colombian-themed fiesta unfolded in the Parish Hall. Organized by parishioner Juan Carlos Riaño (originally from Ibague City in Colombia) with the help of the intrepid Dean’s Council for Diversity and Multiculturalism, the whole experience reminded me of my last trip to Colombia in 1994. SEND US YOUR PRAYER REQUEST
The Cathedral's Healing Prayer ministry is centered on healing through prayer. This ministry acknowledges that healing is God's work, and that those who offer this ministry are instruments of the divine presence and care for people. Prayers for healing are offered with a posture of trust, openness, and faith that God will continue the healing ministry of Christ through the Church. Our ministry with and amongst those who are sick is about God's unfolding healing process, rather than a cure. Those seeking prayer may email the Cathedral PrayerLink at prayerlink@thecathedral.ca to have their name added to the list. |
