3rd Annual Piping for the PadreBCR Irish Pipes & Drums and the 15th Field Artillery Band - Saturday, March 1, 2025 | 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. On Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 PM, the British Columbia Regiment Irish Pipes & Drums will be joined by the 15th Field Artillery Band for the 3rd Annual Piping for the Padre. The concert is a fundraiser for the Padre’s Fund, which provides support for the women and men of the reserves, particularly the BC Regiment. The fund provides resources for resilience training, physical training, and spiritual and mental support, as well as financial support for the troops. Join Rev. Areeta and Claude St-Denis to learn about the Eucharist. We'll walk through the service step by step and explore our worship tradition. Following the teaching Eucharist, we'll do a tour of the Nave (the church) to learn what our building teaches us about our faith. All are welcome to join us. “Sundays at 4”: an Exciting New Music Worship SeriesBeginning Lent 1 - Sunday, March 9 | 4:00 p.m. We are excited to announce that the Cathedral is offering outstanding new music worship services beginning on the First Sunday of Lent, March 9, 2025. The Series is called "Sundays at 4" and will feature a different 45-minute music-centered worship each Sunday. The first offering, on Lent 1, will play to the strengths of our music program and choir with a Choral Evensong. Subsequent Sundays will rotate through a variety of styles like: Holden Evening Payer, Taize, Organ Vespers, and the Dean's favourite, Broadway Vespers, to name a few. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for some powerful worship! |
Praying with the PsalmsA Lenten Bible Study 2025 - Tuesday, March 11, 2025 | 7:15 to 9:00 p.m. It has been said that “God behaves in the psalms in ways that God is not allowed to behave in theology” (Sebastian Moore, OSB). This Lent, encounter God in the Book of the Psalms. Claude St-Denis will be leading an exploration of the Psalms: an exploration of the Psalms as scripture and an exploration of the Psalms as prayer. Join us online on Tuesday evenings in Lent (from March 11- April 8, 2025), from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. (zoom room opens at 7:15 p.m.). Healing Touch at Christ Church CathedralSunday, March 16, 2025 Healing Touch, in person, is available for members of Christ Church Cathedral. The next in-person Healing Touch offering will be Sunday, 16 March 2025. Four sessions are offered in total: at 9:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. before the service; AND at 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. after the service. To register for a session please email the office at healingtouch@thecathedral.ca to request a time. State “Healing Touch In Person” in the subject line. All requests from parishioners will be considered, and confirmation emails sent by March 14th. Youth Confirmation Classes!Tuesday, February 11, 2025 The Diocese of New Westminster is pleased to launch a diocesan-wide youth confirmation class. Led by three clergy in the diocese, including Rev. Jessica, who worships at the Cathedral, this program is open to youth, between 14 and 18 years old. Current locations are: Diocesan Office - 1410 Nanton Avenue, Vancouver St. Philip - 3737 W 27th Ave W, Vancouver St. Anselm - 5210 University Blvd, Vancouver The confirmation service will be held on June 14 at Christ Church Cathedral (690 Burrard Street). Morning PrayerEvery Weekday From 9.30am to 10.00am Are you looking for a way to deepen your spiritual life? Every weekday morning at 9:30am the Cathedral holds Morning Prayer. We will follow a simple liturgy with a Psalm, a Reading, Prayer and Silence. This form of regular, daily prayer is used in the Anglican Communion and a number of other church denominations. We have emailed your 2024 donation receipt to everyone with a valid email address in our donation system. Thank you so much for helping us save on the mailing costs. You have received an email titled “Your 2024 Tax Receipt from the Cathedral”. There is a link in blue called “View your giving statement”. Please click on this link and your tax receipt will download to your computer or device. Anyone without a printer can reply to the “Your 2024 Tax Receipt from the Cathedral” email to let us know, and Vanessa will print yours for you. OPPORTUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER

Office Reception Volunteers
Do you have a weekday morning (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) or afternoon (1:00 to 4:00 p.m.) with free time to come to the Cathedral and volunteer at the office reception desk? Duties vary and always include answering the telephone and welcoming guests who pop in. Computer skills and a pleasant voice to connect with those who call are important assets. You will take direction from our office staff who train the volunteers and all the information you need is close at hand. There is a “Volunteer Application Form” on the Cathedral’s website to complete. Our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to complete the process. It is one of the highlights of the week, knowing you are serving God using a gift of hospitality to live out our “open doors, open hearts, open minds.” |

VST Announces Philip Murray as a 2025 Recipient of Honorary Doctorate
VANCOUVER, BC, January 24, 2025. The Board of Governors of the Vancouver School of Theology is delighted to announce that Philip Murray has been selected as a 2025 recipient of VST’s Honorary Doctor of Divinity. This Honorary Doctor of Divinity (HDD) is awarded to individuals who exemplify the values of VST, an internationally recognized theological school known for its innovation and global leadership. VST’s HDD recipients have made significant contributions through the integration of theology and practice of ministry in one or more of the following: theological scholarship, ecumenical dialogue, the life and ministry of the Christian community, and interdisciplinary scholarship involving theology with other fields.
