On February 29th, Dean Chris, Deacon Jeffrey, the Rev. Clare Morgan, Fr. Christian and Pastor Matthew joined Fr. Stanley and Fr. Pablo at Holy Rosary Cathedral for Vespers. It was the second time in two years that clergy from this Cathedral joined colleagues at Holy Rosary for Vespers and the 5th time clergy from both Cathedral had gathered for worship.
Following Vespers, some light refreshments and conversation occurred. During that period, Father Pablo Santa Maria, the Vice-Rector at Holy Rosary Cathedral and Registrar for the RC Diocese presented Dean Chris with an icon of Christ Teacher for the Cathedral. It was a smaller version of the icon that was in the rectory of Holy Rosary. Two years previously Dean Chris commented on how much he liked that icon. Later, Father Stanley, the Rector of Holy Rosary, contacted the Canadian iconographer Michael O'Brien who wrote that particular icon and asked if an official copy could be made. Holy Rosary then commissioned a replica to present to Dean Chris and the Cathedral. This was in response to the gift of a Chasuble that the Cathedral had given to Holy Rosary at the previous meeting for Vespers.
"This is an example of how we can come together and build deeper relationships with our ecumenical siblings," said Dean Chris, "By meeting together and focusing on what we have in common and sharing hospitality we further the growth of God's Peaceable Realm."
The clergy of Holy Rosary have been invited to attend Evensong at the Cathedral on the Feast of Pentecost, where the icon will be blessed and dedicated.
