In my time at the Cathedral, I have heard a yearning for community, from long-time members and more recent members.
I have heard a yearning for connection, to be seen, to have this be a place safe enough to show up as we are, and to be treated kindly and tenderly when we take steps towards trying to belong.
I have heard a yearning for authenticity, for that mysterious and elusive mix of being able to speak truth in love.
These yearnings are a divine gift, and I believe that it is in and through the work of the Spirit that we will grow in our ability to become what Dr. Martin Luther King referred to as ‘beloved community’.
