I grew up in central BC, which gave me a great appreciation of the outdoors. My love of reading, art and “making things pretty” drew me south; first to UVic for a BA in English/GRS and then (after a brief pit-stop in Edmonton) to Vancouver and Langara College to study all aspects of publishing. My favourite section of the course ended up being communication design (not editing as I anticipated). I discovered I am passionate about design, making information accessible, and using that to produce materials to support and build inspiring brands that help in expressing and fulfilling a clients’ purpose and mission.
Vancouver soon became ‘home,’ with some of my family living close by, and its mixture of arts, good food and beautiful scenery. I love spending time in creative pursuits and enjoy crafting, mucking about in the kitchen, and attempting to grow a big garden on my small balcony.
My favourite ice cream at the moment? Cassis (black currant). Preferably eaten on a sunny day in the Jardin Tuilieres.
What I do here
As communications coordinator I am responsible for communications strategy, planning and implementation. I produce, maintain and renew a variety of print and web materials at the Cathedral. This includes maintaining the website, sending out email blasts, producing weekly bulletins, and designing posters, exterior banners, kiosks and other promotional pieces as needed.
