Join accomplished Canadian authors Brian Bartlett and Susan McCaslin as they read selections from their most recent books of poetry, exploring the interplay between natural, human, and spiritual ecologies.

Brian Bartlett has published sixteen collections and chapbooks of poetry, including The Astonishing Room (2024), The Watchmaker’s Table (2008), and Wanting the Day: Selected Poems (2003). His prose books include three admired volumes of nature writing, including Daystart Songflight: A Morning Journal (2021). His work has received The Atlantic Poetry Prize, the Acorn-Plantos Award for People’s Poetry, the International Petra Kenney Prize, and two Malahat Review Long Poem Prizes. He lives in Halifax.

Drawn to ancient mythology and the mystical traditions of many cultures and religions, Susan McCaslin has authored twenty volumes of poetry -- most recently Named & Nameless (2025) -- twelve chapbooks, two poetry anthologies, a memoir, a volume of essays, a volume of creative non-fiction, and (with J.S. Porter), Superabundantly Alive: Thomas Merton’s Dance with the Feminine (2018). In 2012, Susan initiated the Han Shan Poetry Project, which drew on poetry to help save an endangered forest near her home. She lives in Fort Langley.
