Ordained and consecrated the 9th Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster, March 1st, 2014, Bishop Skelton is the first woman, the first American and the first priest who had another career outside the church prior to ordination to be consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of New Westminster.
Since 1994 I have served at the Cathedral. From 1984 – 1994 I lived and worked in Toronto, first on staff with the Diocese of Toronto, then as a Program Director on the national staff of the Anglican Church of Canada.
I was ordained in the Church of England among the first round of women priests there in 1994, and moved to Canada in 2005. I am married to Jeremy, also an Anglican priest and currently the Rector of St Mary’s Kerrisdale.
Marnie is the Assistant to the Rector for Evangelism and Christian Formation and is the priest for St. Brigids.
I am a life-long Anglican, (with about a 25 year gap in the middle). I was born in Montreal and have lived in various cities across Canada before moving to the colour movie that is Vancouver in 1986.
