Christ Church Cathedral is seeking a custodian to join the Building Services team.

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Reporting to the Building Manager, the Custodian is part of the Building Services team. As part of the Building Services team you help clean and maintain the church building and grounds, performing basic maintenance and repairs. The Building Services team also plays a key role in making sure the building is safe for everyone who walks through our doors. 

DUTIES INCLUDE:

-Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, sweeping, raking, washing glass, mirrors, windows, and dishes, and cleaning up after events.
A schedule of duties is provided each shift but is adjusted as needed to meet the special demands of the Cathedral.

-Collect and empty garbage as required, inside the building and on the Cathedral grounds, and tidy the Cathedral entrance areas.

-Set up rooms for worship services, planned activities, booked groups, workshops, receptions, and special occasions. 

-During services and some events you may be required to operate the Livestream, sound system, the lighting system, set up coffee & tea service, wash dishes, and help greet the public. 

-Basic maintenance and repairs of the building and grounds including: replacing burnt out bulbs, identifying furniture, equipment, fixtures and facilities needing repair, and caring for the physical home of the Cathedral.

-Help to present a welcoming, safe, and secure worship home for parishioners, visitors, Cathedral staff and clergy by ensuring rooms and buildings are physically secure, ensuring rooms and equipment are appropriately locked and keys controlled, identifying and reporting any suspicious activity to the Building Administrator or the Dean, and taking due precautions to ensure personal safety and security by adhering to Cathedral policies of material and equipment handling, workplace procedures, and other practices as appropriate.

Start Date: Immediate 


This is a part-time position offering 20 - 25 hours per week. Hours include some early mornings, evenings and weekends.
